Introduction to the Function, Material, Manufacturing Process, and Technical Requirements of Excavator Front Idler:

The idler on an excavator is responsible for guiding the track to ensure proper rotation and prevent it from running off or derailing. In many excavators, the idler wheel also serves as a support wheel, increasing the contact area between the track and the ground and reducing ground pressure. The idler wheel has a smooth surface with a guide arm ring in the middle for guiding purposes, while the ring surfaces on both sides support the track chain.

Excavator idlers are typically cast using resin sand casting technology. The appearance quality of the wheel is combined with reasonable mechanical structural performance. The wheel body undergoes quenching and tempering treatment to obtain good impact resistance. The track surface undergoes medium-frequency induction heating treatment to achieve a surface hardness of HRC48-54, with a minimum hardness of HRC46 at a depth of 6mm. This ensures performance under working conditions. To ensure the effectiveness and longevity of the excavator idler wheel, the radial runout of the wheel surface concerning the center bore should be less than or equal to 3mm, and correct alignment is essential during installation.

Sawing machine – Gas fusion – Friction press – Quenching – Welding – Assembly – Cleaning – Trial rotation – Leak testing – Oil filling – Tightening bolts – Painting.
